Costa Ricans are particularly fond of cycling, and bicycle racing is a mayor sport. With all sorts of different terrains and trails there are options for all levels. With Costa Rica’s stunning scenery, cycling is one of the most beautiful ways to see the country and get some great exercise at the same time.
Soccer
Considered the national sport, soccer is played everywhere. Whether it’s a casual game on the beach, or joining a league, soccer is a popular choice for teens and younger children.
Flag Football
Jaco began a flag football last year and just started up another season last week. The league has been a great success and is naturally very popular with Americans living in the Jaco area.
Golf
The Los Suenos Resort features an 18 hole championship course that is open to the public. There are also many other courses located throughout the country and many different tournaments held on a regular basis.
Fishing
Yes the sportfishing in Costa Rica is outstanding, but there are also small boats that stay inshore for the more casual fisherman.
Surfing will always be one of the most popular activites in Costa Rica. The warm waters and consistent waves make it pure heaven for surfers, but even if you aren’t a pro it’s fun to try. While some beaches are perfect for the more experienced surfer, there are plenty of beaches safe for those just starting out.
Yoga
It seems that Yoga has become much more popular the past few years. Yoga classes are pretty easy to find, especially near beachtowns. These are just a few of many of the popular recreational activities found in Costa Rica. Sure beats sitting inside and watching TV!
