WOW! I can’t express my excitement for the new highway from Orotina to Santa Ana, cutting down the trip from Jaco to Escazu to just one hour. On Thursday my wife and . [...]

I and some friends used the highway to go to dinner and a movie in Escazu For many of you that might not sound like a big deal, but those of us who live along the Central Pacific it really is significant. Anyone who has been to Jaco is familiar with the old route which is a VERY windy stretch, taking 2 or more hours from San Jose. This new route has plenty of passing lanes, is a fairly straight shot and is lit very well. It’s a very easy drive making it very simple to go from the beach to the city. And obviously for the 3 million people who live in San Jose/Escazu they are just excited because they can now take a quick trip to Jaco, enjoy a day at the beach and still be back home in time for dinner. If you are living in San Jose and want to use the new highway but still want to stay overnight, there are lots of hoteles de playa here in Jaco for you to stay at. I will put together some video and pictures soon, and talk more about just how this will impact real estate in the Central Pacific, but for now just wanted to say that YES the highway is open and it’s FANTASTIC!
